Bay Area Kids Orthodontist has been great work with. Both of my daughters have been in the process with braces for a year now and it is always a please to see the level of service they provide my children. About Mountain View
With a population of just over 82,000, Mountain View is a city in Santa Clara County, California named for its views of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
The area was originally inhabited by the Ohlone people, who lived in villages along the San Francisco Bay. In 1836, the Mexican government granted Rancho Rengifo to Californio ranchero José María Alviso. Alviso built a hacienda on the property, which is now known as the Jose Maria Alviso Adobe.
After the Mexican-American War, the United States acquired California and the rancho was divided up and sold. In 1868, James Campbell purchased a portion of the rancho and established the town of Mountain View. The town grew rapidly in the late 19th century, thanks in part to the arrival of the railroad.
In the early 20th century, Mountain View began to transition from a farming community to a suburban town. The city’s population grew significantly in the post-World War II era, as part of the growth of Silicon Valley. Many high-tech companies established headquarters or offices in Mountain View, including Google, LinkedIn, and Intuit.
Mountain View is known as the “Birthplace of Silicon Valley.” William Shockley, a Nobel laureate in physics, founded Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory in Mountain View in 1956. This was the first company to develop silicon transistors, which are the building blocks of modern computers.
